Bob the Drag Queen, the RuPaul's Drag Race season 8 winner, took over Alan Cumming's Scottish castle on season 3 ofThe Traitors, but last night's episode shook everything up — including Bob.
Hosted by Cumming, The Traitors boasts stars from across the spectrum of reality television, including Big Brother's Danielle Reyes, Real Housewives of New York's Dorinda Medley, The Bachelor's Gabby Windey, and Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause.
Over a dozen reality TV stars entered the castle as equals but three are secretly chosen as "Traitors" by Cumming. The rest are "Faithfuls," whose objective is to successfully identify and vote out the Traitors. It's the job of the Traitors to stay undetected while they murder off the Faithful one by one, either by killing them in the night or turning the Faithfuls against one another so they vote more Faithful players out. Each side can win by eliminating all of their opposition.
Spoilers for season 3, episode 4 ahead...
On Thursday's episode, the Traitors turned on each other. Boston Rob, a Traitor, felt the need to "take out the drag queen tonight" and set his sights on getting Bob banished at the roundtable with a direct attack, accusing him of treachery in front of everyone.
"I'm just gonna say nine words: I swear to God that I am a Faithful," Bob pleaded.
Even Zac Efron caught some strays in the heated moment. His Faithful brother, Dylan Efron, lobbed an accusation at Bob, saying, "Bob is an amazing actor. I grew up with an actor," said Dylan Efron. Bob replied, "Not a good one."
But Rob's plan worked, and Bob was voted out, revealing his traitordom in a most dramatic fashion! "Guys, I said I swear to God...and that was a lie, I don't believe in God, I'm a Traitor."
Luckily for fans of the show, Bob, alongside many viewers, live-tweeted the episode.
Here are some of our favorite posts from Bob the Drag Queen, Real Housewives star Chanel Ayan, and fans.
"All Bob had to do was say NOTHING at the end of that challenge and he would still be playing the game. I’m super sad because I LOVE BOB THE DRAG QUEEN and I was looking forward to seeing him play. But he did too much too soon."
For his part, Bob appeared to take the elimination in stride. "Boston Rob is scared of me, period point blank. He took me out. I'm his biggest competition. He saw that the big dog was wounded and he went in for the kill," he said in the confessional. "And you know what? That's fair. That's just gameplay, baby."
However, it's notable that Rob referred to Bob as "the drag queen" in his campaign to eliminate his fellow Traitor, a tactic that visibly unsettled the other Traitors, Danielle and Carolyn. (Last season, the early elimination of a transgender contestant and fellow Drag Race alum, Peppermint, also reeked of bias.) But karma may indeed be a bitch yet for Rob, whose surety in accusing Bob has also aroused some suspicions in the castle.
Traitors streams Thursdays at 9 p.m. Eastern on Peacock.
