Original Blade star Wesley Snipes is poking fun at Marvel Studios reboot as they continue to struggle to get the project off the ground.

The 61-year-old actor, who starred in the original Blade film trilogy from 1998 to 2004, appeared to poke fun at the upcoming reboot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, amid reports that it had lost its director for the second time.
Sharing a GIF of himself as Eric Brooks/Blade in the original films to X (formerly Twitter), Snipes wrote, "Blade, lordylordylordy 👀 folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough."
"Daywalkers make it look easy, don’t they? 😊," he added, concluding his post with the hashtags, "#DaywalkerKlique," "#Blade" and "#Marvel."
As reported by multiple outlets including Variety, filmmaker Yann Demange exited the new Blade as director earlier this year, which came after Bassam Tariq departed the project in September 2022.
According to Variety, multiple screenwriters have also been tapped to pen the script for the vampire superhero flick, currently slated for release on Nov. 7, 2025, per IMDb.
Back in 2021, Snipes confirmed that he was not involved in the upcoming film, and shared that he thought new star Mahershala Ali has "got a heck of a job on his hands" with the role.
In an interview with Uproxx that February, Snipes, said that he didn't "have any involvement [in the project], but I support the young artists and I support Marvel in their business decisions."
Despite Snipes' comments on X about the upcoming Blade reboot, he expressed direct support in the past for the movie's new star back in 2021.
When a user wrote on X that two-time Oscar winner Ali is going to "have a hard time outdoing" Snipes as Blade, Snipes wrote simply in response, "He will do great," along with a prayer hands emoji.
Ali, 50, said during an interview on The Breakfast Club the following month that he was "humbled and so encouraged" by Snipes' support.
"For him to come out and say that [as] somebody I look up to so much, I sincerely appreciated that," he later added. "So, thank you, brother."
