Billy Campbell Joins Sony’s ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’

The cast for Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that Billy Campbell (“Mr. and Mrs. Smith”) is the latest to sign on.

Sony’s sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer has just added Billy Campbell to the booming cast which includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King. Franchise OG star Jennifer Love Hewitt is also in talks to return.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is directing the follow up, which is written by Sam Lansky and Kaytin Robinson off a draft by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz is producing for a theatrical release scheduled on July 18, 2025.

The Paradigm and LINK Entertainment repped Campbell recently starred in 2x Primetime Emmy winning Amazon series Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He was also last seen in the CTV/HULU television series, Cardinal. Campbell won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Actor in Cardinal for two years in a row as well as nominated for an International Emmy Award for Best Actor in a series. He is also known for his work as a co-lead in the critically acclaimed AMC series The Killing the Lifetime MOW, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, DirecTV’s Neil LaBute drama, Full Circle, as well as the title role in Nat Geo Channel’s Killing Lincoln which garnered record-breaking ratings. Other feature film credits include Disney’s The Rocketeer, Ghost Town opposite Ricky Gervias, Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Enough opposite Jennifer Lopez.

Campbell also starred in the ABC drama Once and Again, for which he earned a Golden Globe Awards nomination in the Best Actor – Drama Series category, as well as a People’s Choice Award in the Favorite Male Performer in a New Television Series category.

Among his stage credits, Campbell recently starred in A Winter’s Tale at The Old Globe, San Diego. As well as Fortinbras, for which he received a 1996 Ovation Award for best actor in LA theatre, along with Comedy of Errors and Much Ado about Nothing at the Old Globe, San Diego.

While I like Billy as an actor, I really need to know what's going on with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy? Are they signed on or naw? We're hearing about everyone else being cast except for these two ladies.
