So I just listened to all seven tracks of Kim Petras’ latest musical project Slut Pop, and I have some thoughts.
Now y’all know I am a sucker for an electronic beat, and some synths, but what really gagged me something fierce is the fact that I can’t think of one pop act within the LGBTQ community (Kimmie trans) that has gone full Lil Kim Hard Core like this Kim has.
Slut Pop is the type of body of music that I have been yearning to bear for a long time, because there are some who either waddle in gay cliches, or decide to play it safe in order to cater to the straight audience.
Kim is coming at this EP like she doesn’t give a fuck. She loves sex, and isn’t scared to be open about it.
The EP Kicks off with Treat Me Like a Slut, which soars with electronic fierceness and sassiness, that I was even thinking she could get Charli XCX on the remix.
The EP also features future bangers like XXX , Superpower Bitch and Throat Goat, the third being hands-down my favorite track off the EP.
Slut Pop is in my opinion the early Summer record I didn’t know we needed, and anyone who isn’t afraid to own their sexuality and sexual desires is a winner in my book.
My only issue with the EP upon further investigation, is that it was produced by Dr Luke, who still has those pending sexual assault allegations against him from Kesha.
I wonder if there some clause in her contract that she can’t work with any other producers besides Luke, because if she continues down this route, the politigays will chop her before her music career finally takes off.
